DKH Counting Stars "Cait", Approved Irish Draught Sporthorse mare

Looking for a BIG POWERFUL jump?! You've found it in Cait!

"Cait" is a 2013 traditional Irish Sporthorse (TIH) mare out of a palomino Jockey Club registered Thoroughbred mare, RFF Golden Angel (by Glimmer Please) and by Class 1 Irish Draught stallion Jaunty Star (Alice's Diamond Slipper). Cait is registered, microchipped and "Approved" as an Irish Draught Sporthorse mare with the Irish Draught Horse Society of Canada making her offspring by a Class 1 or 2 Irish Draught stallion eligible for "grade up" inspection in Canada. She stands a large 16.2 hh and has no vices. Cait will do best in a partnership with consistent work but does not need a 5 days a week program.

Jaunty Star, affectionately known as "Jim" is a Class 1 imported Irish Draught stallion who has been awarded Silver Merit in eventing based on his competition record. He stands 17 hh and has a kind people pleasing attitude.

Cait was slowly, correctly and lightly started as a four year old by working cow horse trainer Clint Swales and then turned out to continue maturing. Boy, does he know how to start a soft forward horse!

Brought slowly back to work in the spring of 2018 by the talented Kolina Crowe, Cait's job was as our young daughters secondary Pony Club mount as a 5 year old. She took her job very seriously, and safely packed Megan around in dressage and jumping at the 2'-2'3" foot levels. She proved immediately to be HONEST and STRAIGHTFORWARD to fences, able to "take a joke" and continue on unphased. That summer, she was bred via frozen semen from Class 1 Irish Draught stallion In Shining Armour and foaled a great chestnut colt, who we call LilyWings Wizard Shining "Bow" in June 2019. In October 2019, Cait was also awarded Approved sporthorse status at breed inspections by Horse Sport Ireland inspectors.

In 2020, as a 7 year old, Cait came into real work with the intention of having a full competition season in western Canada. Unfortunately, Covid-19 had negative impacts on the show scene but we took advantage with serious dressage, jumping and cross country schooling. Cait debuted on the eventing scene in August, placing 2nd in open Pre-Entry (Beginner Novice) on her dressage score of 33.6. She finished the short season at the end of September, moving up to Entry division (BN/N) with a strong showing at the Minds Eye Derby.

September 2021: Cait is currently competing PreTraining level cross country and schooling at Training level. She continues to be honest to the fences and a responsive a simple snaffle bit! She has had a successful season so far, finishing 6th with an adult amateur in a large Entry level field at Prentice Creek event in July, and continuing her advancement moving up to PreTraining at the remaining events for 2021.

DKH Counting Stars, "Cait", is available to an approved home, competition or recreational. Prepurchase exam, at buyers expense, welcome.

Ride her, love her, show her, compete her or breed her...!

Cait is looking for a partnership with a confident, secure rider(s) with a solid seat, active leg and responsive hand. She benefits from a confident rider out on cross country as she is looky in the field but focuses on fences easily just needing a rider's confidence and to tell her "yes, Cait, go!" and she will go.

Located approximately 2 hours northwest of Edmonton International Airport. Full length video can be made available to serious interested parties.
